      WestWind Account/Pilot Identification Usage

      • Pilot Identifications are for the expressed and exclusive use of the person applying to WestWind Virtual Airlines. Pilots must not share their accounts with other pilots.
      • Pilot Identifications/Accounts are not transferable.
      • Pilots are required to ensure that their web site account User ID and password are protected.
      • Pilots are responsible to change passwords in the event that they suspect that their account has been breached. Pilots must notify their Hub Manager if they suspect a breach has occurred.

      Logging of Pilot-in-Command Flight Time

      Aircraft Type and Category Rating...

      • Pilots may log hours only in specific makes and models of aircraft listed in the WestWind fleet. The WestWind Fleet consists of those aircraft types (makes and models) currently available for download in WestWind's hangars.
      • Pilots may only log hours in a category of aircraft at or below the category for which the pilot holds a rating.
      • Exception. A pilot may log hours in an aircraft which is in a category for which he/she is training to take a check ride provided that he/she has accumulated the required number of hours to be promoted to the next category.
      • Exception. WestWind Test Pilots may log hours flown in any category and type of aircraft (even those not in the WestWind fleet) when the flight is conducted with the approval of the Chief Maintenance Officer or the Chief Pilot.
      • Pilot Flight Time consists of that time commencing from Pushback up to and ending at Gate Arrival (i.e. block time).

      Payware Aircraft...

      • In order to have sufficient quality control over WestWind's livery, textures for payware aircraft will only be made available if a painter at WestWind owns the payware aircraft in question and the aircraft publisher's policies allow for third party repaints.
      • Pilots may log time in a payware aircraft that does not have WestWind textures provided that a freeware aircraft of the same make and model is currently available in a WestWind hangar. For example you may log time in a payware MD-11 since a freeware MD-11 is available in a WestWind hangar.

      Allowable Operations...

      • Passenger flights using aircraft from the WestWind Passenger Fleet capable of operating safely at the origin and destination airports.
      • Cargo flights using aircraft from the WestWind Cargo Fleet capable of operating safely at the origin and destination airports.
      • Passenger Charter flights using aircraft from the WestWind Passenger and Executive Charter Fleet capable of operating safely at the origin and destination airports.
      • Cargo Charter flights using aircraft from the WestWind Cargo Fleet capable of operating safely at the origin and destination airports.
      • Training flights for the purpose of recurrent training or type certification for the next higher rating.
      • Test flights conducted by WestWind Test Pilots with the approval of the Chief Maintenance Officer or the Chief Pilot.
      • Special operations assigned by airline managers. For example, special charters, repositioning flights, or maintenance test flights.
      • Flights by airline management conducted for the purpose of performing their management duties.

      Simulation Speeds...

      • Hours flown at other than normal simulation speeds (1x) may only be logged as the actual real-time hours flown.
      • Clarification: If you spend 1 hour flying a 2x Simulation Speed, you may log 1 hour only.
      • Clarification: If you run a simulation at 1/4 speed, you may NOT log 4x the normal flight hours.

      Pausing in Flight...

      • Flights may be paused in flight for as long as the pilot desires. The time while the flight is paused may not be logged.
      • NOTAM to online pilots: Pausing in controlled airspace is at the discretion of the ATC controlling that particular airspace.

      Unattended Flights...

      • Pilots may only log hours spent in direct attendance of a flight, to include the monitoring of an aircraft flying on auto-pilot. Extended periods of time spent away from a running simulation (unattended flight) shall not be counted as loggable time.
      • Short breaks of a reasonable duration away from a running simulation shall not be considered unattended flight.

Online Operations Regulations - VATSIM and IVAO

      • Callsign: Our registered call-sign is "WWAxxxx" for all flights, where xxxx is your Pilot ID. If flying cargo or charter, please just mention this in your flight plan.
      • Flight Plan: It is required by VATSIM that you put "WESTWIND AIRLINES" and our home page www.flywestwind.org in your flight plan remarks.
